Two editions announced

Queen and Sony Music have announced two vinyl editions of A Day at the Races for the album’s 50th anniversary: a limited-edition marbled blue pressing and a picture disc exclusive to the Queen Store. Both are scheduled for release on 11 December 2026, and the official pre-order page is now live.

The album was first released on 10 December 1976. QueenOnline describes it as the band’s fifth studio album and first self-produced record; it reached number one in the UK and number five in the United States.

A follow-up to A Night at the Opera

Recorded in summer and autumn 1976 and engineered by Mike Stone, the album followed A Night at the Opera. Its songs include Somebody to Love, Tie Your Mother Down and Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together). Brian May and Roger Taylor have described it as a continuation of the earlier album.

The two anniversary variants and regional ordering options are listed through the official Queen Store pre-order page. Explore the original album and its track connections in our archive.
